THE THEORY TESTS
You do not have to pass the theory tests before starting to learn to drive. In fact it is best to have a few lessons with an instructor first who will help teach you the requirements for the theory tests and do mock tests. Make sure your instructor offers this facility.
THEORY TEST
Consists of 50 multiple choice questions of which the pupil must get 43 or more correct to pass. The bulk of the questions are based on the Highway Code plus knowledge of basic mechanics, basic first aid, and documentation relating to car driving and legal responsibilities.
HAZARD PERCEPTION TEST
Consists of 14 short video clips each containing 1 hazard with 1 video clip containing 2 hazards. ie 14 clips / 15 hazards.
You click when you can see a hazard, the sooner you see the hazard the more points you score. Max 5 points per hazard.
To pass you must score 44 points or more out of 75.
